Tonewood Spotlight: Indian Rosewood

Our Master Craft Freja, with all solid Indian Rosewood back and sides.

I don’t know about you, but Indian Rosewood was my introduction to Tone (with a capital T, obviously).

When I first got a spruce-topped dread with Indian Rosewood–just wow. I had played acoustic guitars before and had been relatively unimpressed. To be fair, though, I hadn’t tried anything especially great.

That all changed about 8 years ago when I got that guitar, and ever since then I’ve been hooked on the tone.

Indian Rosewood is very dense, and as such has great projection, but that’s not why it’s so revered. It’s the tone itself that gets projected–rich, full lows, slightly scooped midrange, and a very articulate top-end to balance out those lows. As soon as I heard it, I was hooked!
